Bhangra Australia
In recent decades, Punjabi community moved out to other parts of the world e.g. USA, UK, Canada, Europe for better life and new challenges. The migrant community also managed to preserve their unique culture and heritage in these new countries of settlement. Generations after now youth of Punjabi community is maintaining their connection with their roots and practicing traditional form of dance Bhangra. At the same time introduction of modern music and western influence is inevitable.
Basement Australia is a unique concept to link younger generation with their traditional dance form Bhangra by using a different approach. It aims to bring young people together and celebrate their identity and culture.
Bhangra Australia will allow dancers to be raw, professional and explore their dance forms in any ways. It will give dancers a platform to express, share and spread the love of dance.
Our events will feature national level Bhangra teams and individuals along with gusest performaces of local B’Boys, DJ’s and Dance crews

SHIVANI BHAGWAN
Born and raised in Detroit, MI Shivani started out training in traditional Indian classical and folk styles at 9 years old and competed in FOGANA competitions every summer. After graduating high school she went on to become the captain and choreographer of the Michigan State Raas team. Over 4 years, she competed in over 14 competitions, placed 1st 4 times, and went on to compete at Nationals twice. Her yearning to learn new styles led her to move to LA and train at a higher level with professional choreographers
ROSHAN PRINCE
Roshan Prince is a Punjabi singer, producer, musician, songwriter and actor
CHAYA KUMAR
Chaya Kumar was given her introduction to Bharatanatyam at the age of 10. She continued, thereafter, training in the discipline for 10 years, under the direction of Alpana Jacob. In college, Chaya was hired by a local entertainment and arts company in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, Blue Flame Productions. For them, she led their collegiate, competitive team, placing statewide three times. In addition to, Chaya assumed the role of Director of Sales and Marketing for one year; booking, choreographing for and coaching their professional, performance troupe. She moved to Los Angeles in the summer of 2015, and is currently working in the Worldwide Corporate Communications & Public Affairs division of Warner Bros
MALKIT SINGH
Malkit Singh, MBE (Punjabi: ਮਲਕੀਤ ਸਿੰਘ) (Malkit SinghBoparai; born c. 1963) is England-based Punjabi bhangra singer. Born in Hussainpur and raised in Nakodar, he moved to Birmingham in 1984. Singh was the first Punjabi singer to be honoured with an MBE by Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace.
JAZ DHAMI
Jaz Dhami native of Sandhra Sodhia in the Hoshiarpur district is of Punjabi, Indian origin. He was raised in Birmingham, Handsworth. He follows Sikhism. He is the son of Bikramjit Dhami, lead vocalist of the Bhangra band Sangam.
